For the price this should have more content than just the criteria. I assumed it would mirror the pocket guide but it has much less. It is vastly overpriced for what it is and not as useful as it could be.
Diagnostic criteria of many disorders like Neurocognitive disorders and substance use disorders are still not uploaded. Very disappointing!
I did not expect much but this app works well. There is a list of categories. You press on the one of interest and then see a list of the disorders in the category. Press on a disorder and you see the list of criteria in full detail. You can bookmark disorders you may want to go back to. Simple. Much easier than looking up criteria in the printed book (which I have).
There are disorders, which have the diagnostic criteria listed. This is useful. However, I was shocked not to find any criteria for any substance use disorder. Since this is one of my specialty fields, it yields the app nearly worthless when I am in my work related specifically to addictive disorders. This is why I gave it a three. Had I known this before I bought the app, I would not have done so. Hopefully, the APA will update this app and add the missing criteria sections. Disappointing. Waiting for corrective action by APA.
Handy to have an official DSM app, especially given the major update. The videos are a nice touch. In general, the swipe based menu system is ok. But it would be nice to be able to alter the type size for tablet vs phone reading.
